You could try the following:

～ftp_mdtm() ～Returns the last modified time of the given file
～filemtime() ～Gets file modification time

Have a look at the PHP manual for more info.

You could then compare the timestamps returned by the functions.

Be careful though・ that the FTP servers timezone may differ from the servers where the PHP code is running. If so you need to account for that.

I ll try ftp_mdtm() and filemtime(). The timezone problem is a point to consider・ I didn t remember about that.

A suggestion:

You should store the last sync timestamp date in a file on the server.
And on each sync process・ you only upload the files・ which have a modification date later than your stored sync timestamp.

This way would be much faster and easier.

The only disadvantage is that・ if a file is deleted (with a date prior to the last sync)・ the deleted file will remain on the server.

I ve got a similar script running. It keeps track of files that are added・ deleted・ or modified. This is done by storing a hash of the file as well as the last modified date. When a new file is added・ it s hash and modification date are added to a database. When a file is modified・ the hash and modified date are updated. When a file is deleted・ it s information is removed from the database.

When it s time to sync・ the database is queried for files that exist locally・ but not on the server. These files are added to the server. Then・ the database is queried for files that exist on the server・ but not locally. These files are deleted from the server. Finally・ the last modified dates and hash values of local files are compared to the last modified dates and hash values of remote files. If the date is different・ or the hash value is different・ the file is updated.

It seems complicated・ but it s actually fairly simple to implement. The complicated part is making sure you don t accidentally delete files.

Also・ what I ve found is that the file modified dates aren t always accurate. Sometimes I ll get an error when copying files from one unix server to another because the file modified date is actually in the future. To get around this I use the hash values・ which seem to be much more reliable. When using ftp_mdtm()・ you ll want to make sure you handle the possibility of there being an error.

I think the simple way is:

1. Get all file names from local dir to an array
2. Get all file names from FTP dir to an array
3. Find the files that are in FTP but not in local・ delete them.
4. Find the fiels that are in local but not in FTP・ upload them.
5. Compare the modified time for files that are in both local & FTP・ upload the file if local file is newer
